CBSA – Canada Border Service Agency

CELPIP – Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program. This is one of only two English language testing organizations approved by CIC (IELTS is the other). CELPIP testing is available in Canada, USA, Philippines, and the UAE.

CIC – Citizenship and Immigration Canada

CIIP – Canadian Immigrant Integration Program (now known as Planning for Canada)

COPR – Confirmation of Permanent Resident Form

CRS – Comprehensive Ranking System

CSS – Comprehensive Security Screening

DMP – Designated Medical Practitioner. Under the Skilled Worker Program application all family members must undergo a medical exam, performed by a doctor that has been approved by Citizenship and Immigration Canada.

EE – Express Entry

FSWP – Federal Skilled Worker Program

GCMS – Global Case Management System

ICAS – International Credential Assessment Service

ICES – International Credential Evaluation Service

IELTS – International English Language Testing System. One of only two English language testing organizations approved by CIC (CELPIP is the other). Note: Skilled Worker applicants need to take the IELTS ‘General Training’ exams, not the ‘Academic Training’. As of 2019, IELTS is also offered as a computer-based exam.

RPRF – Right of Permanent Residence Fee

RR – Review Required (this usually appears in the GCMS notes, indicating that the VO is not completely satisfied with the information provided by the applicant)

SAPS – South African Police Service

SS – Security Screening

SWP – Skilled Worker Program

TEF – Test d’Evaluation de Français. The main French language testing organization approved by CIC. Note: Skilled Workers have to complete the following tests: Comprehension Ocrite / Comprehension Orale / Expression Ecrite / Expression Orale

TCF – The Test de connaissance du Français is administered by the French government-run Centre international d’études pédagogiques (CIEP) to test proficiency in French and will be available at approved test centres in Canada and more than 150 countries

VAC – Visa Application Centre

VFS Global – Check for the Visa Application Centre in your country to submit Biometrics (as of July 31st, 2018) and passports after PPR

VO – Visa Office/Officer

WES – World Education Services

ZAR – South African Rands
